Surgical Treatment for Lipoedema – Specialists in Lipoedema Surgery
Lipoedema can significantly affect everyday life due to pain, tenderness and worsening symptoms. At the LipoZentrum Dr. Heck in Salzburg, we specialise in the surgical treatment of lipoedema.
Our goal is not conventional cosmetic liposuction, but the radical, circumferential removal of lipoedema tissue—to relieve your pain and help you feel comfortable in your own body again.
When Is Lipoedema Surgery Recommended?
Surgery may be considered, particularly if symptoms persist despite conservative treatment and you want lasting relief from lipoedema. Unfortunately, surgery is the only way to remove lipoedema for the long term.
During your consultation, our doctors will discuss your individual circumstances and which treatment options are best for you.
Liposuction for Lipoedema—What Is the Goal?
At LipoZentrum Dr. Heck, we specialize in treating patients with lipoedema. We combine many years of experience with a consistent, medically based treatment approach.
Our founder, Dr. Falk-Christian Heck, developed the so-called Heck Protocol to standardize surgical treatment for lipoedema and ensure consistently high, reproducible standards of care.
The Heck Protocol sets clear medical standards for surgical planning and performance. All our surgeons are trained in this protocol and follow the same established quality standards. This ensures that our patients can count on the same high standard of surgery, regardless of which surgeon treats them.
Despite this standardized approach, every treatment is tailored to the individual. When planning surgery, we take into account the areas of the body affected, the extent of the condition, existing symptoms, and each patient’s individual circumstances.
From your initial consultation and surgical planning through to follow-up care, we support our patients throughout their entire treatment journey.
Our Specialization in Lipoedema Treatment
lipoedema surgery is not primarily about changing the appearance of your body.
The aim is to reduce the affected fatty tissue as extensively as possible while preserving the surrounding tissue.
We aim to stop the progression of chronic lipoedema and relieve your pain.
After successful lipoedema treatment, you will no longer need compression garments unless you also have lymphedema.
For this reason, surgical treatment differs from purely cosmetic liposuction in its planning, objectives and technique.
Depending on your initial assessment, more than one procedure may be needed. Your doctor will determine how many surgeries are appropriate for your individual case as part of your treatment plan.
The most important goal is for you to feel comfortable in your own body again by the end of treatment—and for us to help you regain your femininity!

What to Expect from Your Treatment
1. Consultation
During an initial online consultation, we’ll discuss your situation, symptoms, and previous treatments.
2. Personalized Surgical Planning
Based on your findings, the doctor will draw up an individual treatment plan with you during a one-to-one consultation. The plan will determine how many operations are needed and the order in which they will be performed.
3. Operation
Liposuction is performed according to the treatment plan agreed in advance.
4. Follow-Up Care
After the procedure, you’ll receive specific recommendations for your recovery and ongoing follow-up care.
How Many Lipoedema Surgeries Are Needed?
The number of procedures needed cannot be determined in advance for everyone.
This depends, among other things, on which areas of the body are affected, the severity of the lipoedema, and the volume involved. Each procedure can remove 8 to 10% of your body weight. Many patients therefore undergo treatment in several surgeries. We’ll plan the exact number with you individually.
Traveling to Salzburg for Lipoedema Surgery

How Much Does Lipoedema Surgery Cost?
Our current price for lipoedema surgery is €7.480 per procedure.
The number of surgeries needed in your individual case can only be determined after a medical assessment and treatment planning.
During your consultation, we’ll give you a clear overview of the planned treatment and the expected costs.
We also offer financing options to help ease the financial burden on our patients.
